Your new place has an existing security system
Many times after you purchase a home, you’ll notice that the previous owners used a home security system. All the devices work, are installed in the correct places, and are ready to go. In this instance, all you might have to do is to call and start a new contract. A Vivint expert will still come to your home to ensure there are no usability problems, and they could offer suggestions on where you should replace bad outdated components. It's a preliminary trip, and you can get your alarm monitoring set up without paying for any new alarms and cameras -- unless you get some new devices.
The outgoing homeowners can give an existing Vivint contract to your family for a one-time set-up fee to make the process simpler. If the outgoing residents are downsizing to an apartment complex or retirement community, transferring the home security service may be a part of the sale.
You are looking to move and take your home security equipment with you
You may want to bring along your favorite home security components with you to your new place when you move. That’s fairly easy to accomplish, as most alarms and smart devices are portable. You can uninstall each alarm or camera yourself or contact a professional installer to come and take down the system. Then our installers will set up the same components -- and any new devices you want -- in your new home. And your home security contract will keep the same.
